“Making great music with great friends” has been the motto of String Theory. Season Fifteen opens with a concert bound by a remarkable group of artists and friends coming together in two of the most beloved chamber music masterpieces. Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A Major is in his own words, “brilliant, pleasing to the ear, and natural, without being insipid.” It is a master work in lyricism and serenity, with a profound second movement quoting J.C. Bach’s “La Calamità dei cuori” (The Calamity of Hearts). The joyful key of A Major continues in Schubert's "Trout” Quintet. Inspired by his popular lieder, “Die Forelle,” the quintet was written during Schubert’s happiest summer in the countryside, and exudes ebullience and effervescence.
